I suppose you asked them who DOES do the mental health and in any case I would keep looking. Can you say where you are located (city/state/country)?
If you go back to the Website home page, you'll see a tab for doctors, among which are some "mental" types. I don't know that any will be able to do a diagnosis and treatment right here, but some may have a lead for you to follow and an opinion about steps you can take right now. Meanwhile, keep looking at material on the forum. Also, if you can secure lodging (maybe with a friend) and a paying (or higher paying) job this may relieve financial pressure and keep you focused.
Stay in touch and repost your question as often as necessary to shake a few more leaves from the trees. Also please consider becoming a member, so you can send/receive private messages. If I have any flash of insight, I'll let you know and I promise to be mulling this over.
Thankyou for your help, and promptness.
I've looked at some of the free clinics in the area but they say they don't do mental treatment. Apparently they're mostly good for recovery and immediate issues for people with no insurance (which I lack).
My condition isn't dire enough for the ER.
Is there any steps I can take myself towards recovery from this nightmare?
If you feel anxiety -then it IS anxiety, no second opinions required!
It seems that the sudden change of circumstances might be good trigger for it, plus the uncertainty of what will happen in the military, so you have some events you could point to as "reasons." But, as you've probably guessed, why do you react to them as you do? Why not anger with Dad, or excitement about a possible military career? Hard to say.
My opinion is that you should get a medical consult. You might be given some meds to help you chill a bit, but follow up with a few counseling sessions as well, so you have some strategies for "dealing with yourself." Can't afford? Go to your friendly local health department.
And please stay in touch here. I'm glad you've established contact.
