You don't tell us the age of your friend and that could affect greatly what we advise. If she is "older," late 30's to early 40's, she could be experiencing the onset of perimenopause. If she is younger and has had fairly regular periods, then this sudden change COULD signal a problem. Some form of birth control would be MY first guess, but I'm not a doctor. As MAYOU pointed out, stress and anxiety can, and often does, mess up our cycles.
If I understood correctly, your friend has bleed for an entire month? If that is the case, she really should be seen by a gyno and get this evaluated.

Hello there,
Menstrual cycle can be affected by a lot of things, including stress and diet. So yes, anxiety could be the cause of your irregular period.
i'd would still suggest she gets tested to see if everything is normal. I'm not really good in female health so yeah i guess she should consult a doctor to ease her mind of identifying underlying problem.
