Asked this question in another place but Im really freaking out

Ok so I just got a navage and washed it out today with tap water and didn't wait for it to dry before putting in purified water and using it and shortly after I started really freaking out about the possibility that the tap water that was still in the tank could get me a brain eating amoeba.

Tap water unless you live in a completely unindustrialized area of the world or some catastrophe just happened is treated with chlorine and won't harm you in this way.  It might harm you if you drink too much of it in other ways but it has been disinfected.  Brain eating amoeba?  Sounds like you've seen one too many bad horror movies!

The thing that worries me is that I've seen news stories of people getting N. Fowelri from tap water and neti pots in the United States
Anyone who uses tap water in a Neti pot isn't using it properly.  You're supposed to use purified saltwater in it, usually with sea salt.  So yeah, you're not supposed to use tap water up your nose.  But you didn't.  You had a little left in it at most.  You have no symptoms.  A tiny number of people have gotten the problem, and most get it from warm water in southern lands.  And it's very very rare.  If you want to worry about it because you like worrying then enjoy worrying, but I'm thinking you're spending too much time on the internet looking for horror stories.  Life is full of danger.  Best not to dwell on it.  Peace.
