BAD MORNINGS

It is me again.  Still 2 1/2 weeks of morning anxiety---every morning.  This is my third summer in seven years to go through this.  I wake up with heart pounding and very nervous.  I get up and feel weird until late afternoon.   Then I start to feel normal.  Why does this happen during the mornings only.  I take Lexapro in the morning (10 mg).  Could the Lexapro make the anxiety worse.  I just received word that my ANA blood test were negative.  I don't know what else to do.  This forum helps so much.

I have been experiencing anxiety in the mornings also.  This morning was particularly troubling.  Yesterday I did not take any medication the whole day, knowing that I was anxious.  I believe it increased greatly throughout the day and heightened after playing ball (stress :) I am way too competitive).  I took some medicine right before leaving the gym, but by that time the anxiety had reached a high level.  While driving, I experienced some very disturbing symptoms of anxiety, and eventually I calmed down.  I took more medication later last night.  I woke up this morning very anxious and decided to take more medication (Lorazepam).

I really wasn't aware of when my anxiety was the worst until my doctor was asking me all sorts of questions... one of them being when is your anxiety the worst? Morning or evening.

After thinking about it (over and over and over) I came to realize that I have anxiety throughout the day, my mornings are riddled with anxiety and I feel the physical effects of it, and my evenings tend to be when I feel it emotionally.

For some reason this has been a tough week so far in the mornings; I've woken up each day with anxiety. Today I ended up having to take .5mg of Ativan :(

I wonder if my Cymbalta has reached it's plateau level and needs to be increased. *sigh* hope not.

Does anyone else seem to feel their anxiety is the worst in the morning?

I get the same thing almost every morning. And like you said it goes away in the afternoon. I don't take meds so in my case I don't know why it happens, but maybe it is because of the meds in your case.

Regardless you should discuss it with your doctor and maybe he can come up with a different dose or med if needed.

Good Luck!

I've been on Lexapro for 3 years.  Three weeks ago I got overheated.  I went on a rough nature walk.  It was very hot.  After that is when I started having the morning anxiety attacks.  I just woke up from a nap.  About 15 minutes into the nap, I was jolted awake with my heart pounding out of my chest.  Thanks for responding to my post.

How long have you been on Lexapro?  If you've been on it more than a week or two...it's not causing that morning anxiety.  Also, morning anxiety is the most common among people that have anxiety.

I'll try your suggestion of cutting it in half.  Thank you.

I am for sure not an expert on anxiety, all I know is that I suffer from it. I tried Lexapro on 2 different occasions also the 10mg and felt like I was going to climb right out of my skin. I really hated this medication. The only thing I can suggest if you really like the medication is to cut in half for a couple of weeks and see if you feel any better. I have also heard that taking it in the evening before bed might help.

These are only suggestions. I was so bad on Lexapro that  had to go to the ER. Right now I am on Klonipin after almost a year and a half of medicine changes and so far that's been the best for me. I am not close to being out of the woods but I do feel alot better.

God Bless, I truly know how hard this all is.
