BIRTH CONTROL/ANXIETY

I was on birth control pill for about 12 years before I went off of them because I wanted to start a family.  I have been off of it for about 8 years.  After my last child was born, I had post-partum depression/anxiety and doctor put me on Lexapro.  Worked great.  I was on Lexapro for a year and then I went off.  I went on birth control about a month ago.  I started having anxiety symptoms within a day or two and for me that includes inability to sleep.  My doctor put me back on Lexapro.  It didn't work for me as well and as quickly as it had the first time.  Dr. said it might take longer for it to kick this time around.  I still couldn't sleep so gave me Trazodone.  After a week, I went off Trazodone.  Still couldn't sleep.  Wasn't sure if Lexapro was going to work for me for sleep as I know it can also CAUSE sleep problems.  Went back on Trazodone and now off it again and waiting to see if I can sleep.  I have learned that birth control can cause anxiety.  I am wondering if that is what my real problem is as although I am less anxious - the Lexapro just doesn't seem to working as well.  Could I be having anxiety from the bc pill even though I was on it all that time years ago and it worked fine?  Could it be the reason my Lexapro isn't working as well?
