Yea the stomach thing lasted about 2 weeks for me. Now it's not a problem.
Thanks everyone. I do pop a Xanax as need, usually once or twice a week is all. They seem to work, but I know how addictive they are. Due to a lack of medical insurance, I can't see a psychiatrist, so my regular doctor has to prescribe for me. She's obviously not specialized in these disorders, so it will be hit and miss for a while. Tell me, does the stomach upset usually pass in time too? That's been the worst side effect of them all. When I took Zoloft, my stomach cramped so bad I had to go to the ER to make sure it wasn't something like my gall bladder or appendix.
There are many other choices, so don't give up. It's often trial and error with these types of meds as to what will work best for us. Keep in mind that whatworks for one, may not for another, as we are all different. Talk to your psychiatrist about other medications, I'm sure there is something that will work for you, so don't give up. Take care.....
I have to say that I just started Prozac about 3 weeks ago and like you almost gave up because of the side effects. Thanks to my husband he didnt let me give up and I continued taking them. I have to admit that it was pretty rough for about a week and a half but thank goodness they seem to have subsided. You have to be patient. Believe me it's not easy but it will eventually be worth it.
I'm using Lorazepam, genric version of Ativan, seems to work great, I take it only as needed not on a daily basis or anything like that. I tried citralopram on a daily basis, side effects where so bad I thought I was gonna die, put me on the couch for 18 straight hours without moving. The Lorazepam has been great, I also had some success with Xanax but that eventually stopped working.
