Hi,
I have been on Medicare since retirement, and first shock was that I had to pay for psychiatrist ....next that insurance didnt cover clonazapam. Therapy ..forget it.
There has to be a way to get therapy.....believe some insurances pay...but like you have discovered the copay still makes it prohibitive.
In my case as I'm an anal cancer survivor and hooked up to MD Anderson in Orlando, was able to see a therapist free when my son died last year.
Insurance is a worrisome issue for most of us. But. I have found that it is possible to get CBT in other less conventional ways. I talk to a small group of people @ Starbucks...we are not there as a therapy group....but helps. Another place you may like is a gym...The YMCA is pretty good. For about 50 dollars a month I had full priviledges...and Humana Insured folks had free membership.
Not sure what going rate for 50 min of therapy is....but guessing it is about 150.
BTW; after cancer treatment ...I found MH....my support group online. Honestly the help I got here was equal to expensive visits to therapist except for the unusual situation of my son's death. I only saw therapist twice. Was here every day...so you get the drift.
There are other options as well that may be considered.
Many alternative modalities of Therapy are emerging with great results,( some of which
are permanent) and with costs equal or lower than copayment.
Should you need more details please post at the Alternative Therapies or message me directly.
Blessings
