If your blood pressure and cholesterol numbers are good, it's my humble, non-medical opinion that your doctor is 100% correct......your anxiety IS causing you to be aware of your heart beat and once we begin to focus on it, we begin to woryy about it and it begins to beat faster and stronger and then we worry more and then it beats even faster and harder and around and around we go..........VERY common for those of us with anxiety issues. It's very difficult, but when you find yourself beginning to concentrate on your heart, it's time to get up and do something that will occupy your mind with something other than your heart!
Do some research on hyperventaltion and how to deal with it. I think that could be a big part of your problem. It was for me until I learned how to recognize that by "over-breathing" I was creating these symptoms of a rapid, strong heartbeat in myself. Very simple breathing exercises can now virtually stop it in it's tracks and my heart rate returns to normal quickly.
Accept your anxiety and begin to deal with the root cause of that.

Hi....I don't have this symptom....but I know it is very common with anxiety....Nothing to worry about...it most likely gets stronger as you think about it more....
A strong heartbeat is not a symptom of a heart attack. Just eat healthy and exercise so you can keep your blood pressure controlled and you should be good.....
