While I am a big proponent of meds like Zoloft, I agree that medication is by no means a cure for anxiety. In my opinion, it is a useful tool as you learn about and confront your anxiety through talk therapy...only long term knowledge of the root cause of why you think the way you do and how to deal with it will give you long term relief in my opinion. It is like any other medication....lifestyle changes are needed. For example, if you have high blood pressure and you are on meds to lower it, the doc usually advises you to get more active, lose weight, decrease sodium intake, etc. The same is true with anxiety...learning about it is a great way to deal with it....keep us posted!
No drug eliminates anxiety attacks -- only a cure does that, and medication isn't a cure, it just helps with the symptoms. You still need to either find a cure through therapy or just live with what's left after the part meds help with.
Oh yea for sure you can.
The antidepressants help, but they are never going to stop all anxiety and panic attacks.
I take a much more powerful antidepressant than you, along with two mood stabilizing drugs and I still get anxiety attacks.
Many years ago I used to take Zoloft at 200Mgs a day and I still got panic attacks.
Now I use Xanax to ease those nasty panic attacks. Works like a charm except Xanax is addictive.
