Celexa vs Zoloft again

Was looking for some input, my Dr wants to switch me back to Zoloft from Celexa. The celexa (40mgs) is working ok for my panic attacks and anxiety but not great.... The zoloft worked great for years but pooped out on me at 200 mgs about 1 1/2 years ago. Everything I read says the odds are pretty slim that it will work the same again....DO I give it a shot or stay on the celexa and maybe add something with it ( her suggestion, wellburtrin ) I have been on the Celexa since last summer. Really confused about meds.

I went off the Zoloft many months before trying the celexa, there were many meds tried in between... I have no problem switching from on ssri to another. Celexa does not give me fatigue but I do take it at bedtime like I did with the Zoloft. The Celexa does not work as well as the zoloft did but it took many many months for the zoloft to kick in so hoping someday the celexa works just as well.

How did the switch go from Zoloft to Celexa? Was it a difficult transition? Did you have fatigue on either medication?

Can you become desensitized to a medication?

I'm in the opposite situation, Celexa worked great for several years but now it seems to be not as effective, and the fatigue is ridiculous.  Was wondering about switching to Zoloft for anxiety.

Thanks and good luck.

Truth:  You'll never know unless you try it.  It's trial and error.  As to adding the wellbutrin, this is usually done when there is weight gain or sexual dysfunction, because wellbutrin is a stimulating antidepressant -- not usually for primary anxiety.  But again, it's all trial and error.  Some have tried to make it more scientific -- some believe eeg studies can tell which drugs will work and which won't and some think brain scans can tell something, but the evidence is weak.  Because these drugs treat only symptoms and not causes, it is, alas, trial and error.
