Be advised that the privacy feature works simply by removing from public view the tab for the material you've made private. So, if Journals were protected, the tab for them simply won't show up.
However <-----------!! Material IN your journals, posts, etc. is still searchable and a particular journal entry may show up if someone searches for a string of text that is IN your journal. Example: If "Top Ten Reasons I love Medhelp" appeared in a journal, and someone searched for that string of text, your entry WOULD be returned. But just THAT one, no others.
Carry on.

Hi,
The above actually isn't entirely correct. If you have a journal entry or photo that was previously visible to all (so including all of them before this release) and then change it to one of the other privacy settings, it will take about an hour for it to stop appearing in our search.
In addition, in terms of external search, once the privacy is set we will prevent external searches from viewing the page as well. Keep in mind though, if it was visible at one point, it has already been crawled and is in the search engine index. However, if someone tries to view it that does not have access, they will not be able to view the entry or picture when clicking in.

I must say, I had a lot of anxiety when the forums changed and I didn't like it at all, but now I love it and appreciate all the thought and hard work that's been put into the new design and the new features are very cool.
Thanks!
