Celexa

I have been on Celexa for about 5 years and went off it a month ago. Started not to feel right and resumed the dosage I had been on at  60mg. I became a nervous wreck (sweats, panic etc) and then i realized I probably should have started back at a lower dose. Would starting at 60mg after not using it for a month cause me to have these very nervous feelings?

Just came back from the Dr and he suggested I stay on celexa at 20mg for a couple of more weeks. If I don't feel significantly better than go up to 30mg. Since I've had success in the past with Celexa I'm hoping again he's right. Of course when your going thru it and feling jittery etc its hard to remember about the past success.

Thanks for your responses. I called my Dr the other day and he suggested I go to 20mg. I'm still jittery but I'm not a total disaster. I have an appt tomorrow and will let you know what suggestions I will receive to get back on track.

I hope that you are under the care of a licensed psychiatrist. It's critical that you consult your doc before changing your dosages so they can work with you in designing the tapering schedule.
Please call them right away so you don't have to suffer any longer.
Also, you can post this question to Dr. Gould who is on the expert forum. He can be found under the mental health section.
I hope you get this answered quickly - good luck!

So........you were on the max dose of Celexa for five years, went off a month ago and then began to feel crappy again. I hate to be the bad witch here, (please see photo) BUT...............you should never have taken it upon yourself to restart this med without your docs approval and in my humble opinion, you most certainly should not have titrated immediately to your 60mg dose. All of the symptoms you describe are side effects of this med and could, I repeat, COULD, be one reason you have become a nervous wreck. Get back with your doc and discuss this with him/her as soon as possible. You might want to give your friendly neighborhood pharmacist a call and tell them what you've done. They can't tell you to alter your meds, but they CAN tell you if what you are experiencing is possibly related to you restarting at the max dose.
Good luck.
Peace
