Chemical Bimbalance

Heya guys,

When i was first diagnosed with anxiety (8 months ago) after trying a legal illicit synthetic drug I thought this would be an easy journey to deal with. But something that is really setting me back from making a full back to my usual life has been the discovery of this whole chemical imbalance thing! It has really made me doubt whether my life can ever eb as great as it used to eb and this really scares me :( Can anyone give me some help to ease my worry and stress over this issue, I would greatly appreciate it :)

King Regards,

Adam C

Could you tell us what this "legal illicit synthetic" drug was. How long did you take it, how often and at what dose?
Personally, before I even try to respond, I would like to know what you were on and where you got it.

When people are told they have a chemical imbalance it actually helps them because when they first have anxiety they think they are crazy. This gives most people a little bit of understanding of why this is happeing.  I was told just today by a well educated women that even though we don't like whats happening to us the meds give us some quality of life. Think positive!!!! You will figure it out.

I took a legal synthetic drug called Kronic. According to my psychiatrist it triggered anxiety that was inevitable (my family has a history of it). Initially i blamed it all on the drug which was the main drive of my anxiety. but 6 months later i know don't blame the drug in any way for what happened to me, i look at it as just normal anxiety. this has been a huge step for me! I smoked 0.2 grams of it twice.

The thing is i now look at anxiety and depression as some sort of incurable serious medical illness as opposed to something anyone can recover from before i knew about a chemical imbalance. something else that scares me is that my doctor said some people cant recover without medication. this makes me think it's like there is something physically wrong...

You should not look at it that way. You will find that you have your good periods and your bad periods. It all depends what's going on in your life. A lot of people have conqured anxiety and started out just like us. They explain in books and cds what starts it, whats happening to you and why. All the people that have done these books and cd's are former sufferers.

Yes you are right! it is in my power whether i recover or not and i am a strong believer of this now! its just this chemical imbalance thought is something that is holding me back >.< Why would you say some people dont recover from anxiety then? is it because they don't do the right thing or what..?

When I first had anxiety I was mad at the world and was super jealous that I was not the me I knew before. I don't know why anyone would ever say that to you. That was such a negative statement and so wrong. Don't dwell on that negative statement. If it was your doctor that said that, you should find a new doctor.

I believe that is true though, it is correct that some peopel do require medication in order to recover from anxiety. not because it they physically require it as the only possible way to get better (this is what i used to think) but because it gives them the chance to be anxiety free and help them do the things they need to do in order to make a recovery.

It does put you back in to life. If you can function on the meds that they give you and don't abuse them you should do fine. I just got a program that I was talking about earlier regarding the understanding of anxiety. It does make sense to me. Maybe you should when you feel up to it get something like that. It could help you. I just started so I hope it works for me.

I feel like i have an amazing understanding of my anxiety and how to combat it, thankfully. It just that i was unable to resolve this chemical imbalance issue even wit the use of all my resources. But you have been able to help me like no one else has! You have taught me that a chemical imbalance is nothing to be feared. It is a normal part of the process and doesn't mean anything is physically wrong. All that is important is believing that you can combat the anxiety, and doing the right things to get better! Thanks so much for helping me I can't tell you how much happier I am now :)
