Chest Pain

Hi all,

Its chest pain that is getting me down at the mo.

Its so inconsistent and i cant seem to see any patterns in its occurance.

Am i right in thinking that heart related chest pain would become more present and severe when exercising? Coz last night i was playing football for over an hour running round like a headless chicken but i experienced no pains atall!

Any other ideas of what could be causing it?

Im worried its cardiac related. But im only 21 so i know its unlikely.

Thanks Guys

You are right that chest pain caused by heart disease (angina) typically get worse when the person exercises or stresses themselves physicallyand gets better when they rest.  That doesn't seem to be the case with you.  Personally I experience two different kinds of chest pain, the first being anxiety related and it feels like a tightness and a dull ache (almost short of breath feeling) that only happens when I'm really anxious and about to panic. This feeling can occur randomly for days as I have gotten pretty good at fighting my panic attacks, but my anixety levels remain high.  It will manifest across my entire rib cage or be focused on the left side.  The other chest pain I get is related to esophogeal scarring I have with resulting spasms.  This pain is centered under the breastbone and can travel through my body to my back and spread out across my shoulder blades.  It is triggered by foods that are high in fat, tomatoes, or too spicy, and carbonated beverages.  I was a t-total drunkard for 3 years and the nightly vomiting really messed my espohogus up!  Both of these types of chest pain along with the extra heart beats have lead to my belief that I have heart disease or some type or arrhythmia, but my doctors keep assuring me it's only anxiety and espohogeal spasms.  I hope this helps you and that you felt well today!
