Chest discomfort and backpain

Hello. I am a 21 yr old male. About two months ago I had been diagnosed with anxiety and put on lexapro. Since last Thursday, I have been experiencing a sharp pain in the left side of my chest slightly under my pectoral muscle. It seems to be around the heart area. I am trying to figure out how serious this actually is? Is it possible that it is just anxiety? I am planning to visit a cardiologist tomorrow to get checked out. I am just looking for some form of clarity so that I can sleep and rest easy knowing that I will be on this earth when my daughter is born.

Ditto for me with the shoulder area twinges, pains, etc.  I know there is some difference in muscle development on that side for me, and unusual pain, twinges, numbness (all the result of how I've been holding or tensing the muscles) sends me towards the anxiety land.  Definitely get checked out, because the peace of mind is worthwhile.  I've gone to the hospital more than once worrying I was dying, and never so much as an actual problem.  The peace of mind is nice, but I think it's time for me to get some meds for the 'bad days', which are fewer and further between, and often relate to a lack of sleep, poor diet, job stress, and general paranoia.  :-)

Thanks, that really calms me down. I will def get it checked out. I'll prob go to a respiratory specialist too just to make sure. I'd rather be safe than sorry. I appreciate the quick response. It is always assuring to see that someone has been through this as well. :) Thanks and have a good night.

i doubt anythin is wrong with you other than anxiety. i get the same pain in my chest. it is caused by the muscles tightening and tensing. i know it doesnt feel like a muscle at all, but it's completely harmless. it would definatly be a good idea to get checked out by a doctor to make sure everything's alright. but i am almost sure it's just anxiety. although your on medication for anxiety, many medications dont completely eliminate all of the symptoms. but dont worry about it for tonight, go and get checked out tomorrow, and let me know how it goes.
