Confusion

My grandparents were in a very bad car accident back in November 07. They are improving a lot each day. My grandfather suffered from a head injury, he had some bleeding on the brain...however, it is getting better, the doctors said it should cure itself. He was on Lorazepam before the accident, but after months in the hospital, when he was released was on several new medicines, and none of his regular medicines. He is alert for most of the day, but does seem to stay sleepy throughout the day. After sleeping, he sometimes wake up confused, not knowing where he is. It is like he dreams something and when he wakes up he thinks it is for real. After a few minutes of talking, he then realizes where he is and everything is fine. Could this be a side effect from medicines he is taking? Is there any advice or help you could give me?? It would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks for the comment. It's always nice to see someone try to help. It has been a rough 5 months! Thanks again!

It could be a side effect from the medication or a side effect from the head injury which is most likely.  It will take time for the effect's of the head injury to ease.  I have a friend who was in an accident 2 years. ago and suffered a head injury, she still has some effect's from it. The brain can be a slow healer.
