Right upper body pain

I was sitting in a meeting yesterday, no physical strain, took a breath and felt a sudden sharp pain in my right upper body as my lung inflated - hoping it was just a temporary growing pain I took my next few breaths but it prolonged. After a few minutes of discreet un-comfort I went for a walk around outside but the pain got worse and spread to the top of my arm and my breaths were reduced to about 25% of normal. I drove straight home went to the A&E, during my drive back the pain seemed to ease and breathing became easier although I was worried. The doctor i saw could not explain why it had come about suddenly, and made the assumption that i had a pulled a muscle and gave me strong pain killers - but as i said before i was sitting still, no physical strain in a meeting. Could this be something more serious? Today, i feel like I’ve been hit very hard in the right upper body with something and my back shoulder blade feels saw too. I also have a constant tingling sensation in my left lower arm / hand which has been irritable for the last few hours?

It sounds nerve, or muscle related.  If the tingling continues I would seek medical help, UNLESS you suffer with anxiety as tingling  is a common problem. You may have done something while playing soccer.  Do you suffer from anxiety?  Whatever you find out, take this as a "wake-up" call to stop the smoking and ease up on the drinking.  If you continue this, next time it may be very serious and look at how worried you are now!  Let us know if you suffer from anxiety because if so, then we have a whole new ball game.  Let us know what you find out.  Take care.

I can feel a tingling drifting over to my left upper body, but no pain, similar to what is now in my left arm / hand. This is weird because i'm only slightly over weight at 15 stone, 5ft 10' and i play soccer weekly. I do drink heavy though, and smoke occasionally. Time to live a more healthy life - i didn't think this type of thing would happen to me at 27!

I suggest you see your GP for a complete physical work-up.  Because of your age and the fact that you are sore today tells me it's probably not your heart, but it's always better to get checked out.  For you to be sore today says something happened and you need to find out what.  It may have just been a muscle spasm, but you want to know for sure.  Strong pain medication could be masking a problem.  Take care..
