Anxiety symptoms

Hi, I was wondering if anyone had experienced a tight muscle feeling on one side of their body due to anxiety. I get these weird feelings that feel like your muscles are ready to jump out of your skin along with some tingling. This just happens on one side of my body though (head, arm, leg). It does move from side to side but never on both sides at the same time. I know that I do have a lot of the anxiety symptoms and I tend to worry about health stuff but I have never heard of related stress problems being on one side of the body. I also get a goosebump feeling on the same side as the other symptoms. If anyone has any ideas, please let me know.

Thanks in advance

When I developed GAD over 7 years ago I had those symptoms exactly!  I hated the feeling and after researching it was convinced I had some sort of neurological disorder esp. conisdering it would switch sides randomly throughout the day.  And oddly if I laid down in bed with a panic attack the tingling and muscle spasms would occur on the side of my body not touching the bed.  I could roll over and it would switch sides.  I ended up having a brain MRI and it was "unremarkable" and I was told it was due to anxiety.  At this point the muscle spasms and tingling have become a persistent symptom on both sides that I feel in my hands, forearms, feet and calves.  I too have let my "health anxiety" spiral out of control on many occasions, and it's like your life is at a standstill.  In fact, I'm at that point right now with heart concerns.  Hope you felt better today!

I agree completely. It is such a horrible cycle! Its like you finally get to the point that your just like "I can't change it no matter what I do!" It can really get a hold of a person and not let go. I am all about the unknown as well. Its like I had an MRI of the head that was fine with the exception of a bone malformation that is not causing me any problems. Then I moved to, well maybe something new has come up since the MRI. OK, PLEASE! It is so ridiculous! However, it all seems perfectly normal when it is happening. It is really a very scary but its good to know that there are other people on this site to help and understand. Thanks to everyone who gives advise and calms the relentless fears of others.

Mind consuming is so so true. When I get into one of these phases I can seriously stop my life for like a month. It's horrible!!! The thing that's so weird about our anxiety is that it's really more about the unknown than (at least for me) about dealing with a real problem. When real problems show up for me I can deal with them just fine. It's the unknown/what if **** that gets me all the time.

Thanks for the fast reply. I'm glad to know that I am not the only one who deals with this. I really just need to pull myself out of this weird stage that I am in. As you know, it is easier said than done!!! It becomes so mind consuming!! Thanks again for your help.

That happens to me and my Doc insists that it is anxiety. I too get in on both sides, but sometimes it does seem like it gets more prominent on one side.(left).I have GAD and should be taking something, but the side effects for me stink. Hang in there you will be O.K
