paxil withdrawal and anxiety advice needed please x

Hi there,
I really need some advice/guidance.
I have been n paroxetine/paxil for 12 years.
Through out those 12 years i wasn't sure if i could feel the effects but i was so young when i was put on them (14) that i think i was actually slightly unaware of what was going on at at all apart from the fact i was terrified all the time and needed some help.

Any way my antic attacks have been a pretty constant problem so 2 weeks ago my doctor suggested that i income of pail and transfer to cipralex another sari.

So i started by taking 1 pail and 1 cipralex for 2 weeks and now today i am taking only cipralex x2.

I feel awful...i am getting brain zaps which shock me from behind the eyes when i move my eyes around, pulsating in my neck and chest...spinning, crying, exhaustion, depression...is this normal.

The aim of weaning from one drug to the other was to avoid a lot of the side effects and at 1st i felt quite good but now i just feel crap.

Have you heard of any other swapping meeds stories and do you think it is normal to still get pail with drawl even though i am starting a new medication???

Also i wondered if you'd heard of anyone getting brain zaps even when they have been on a normal dose of pail as i had them ..midly through out there use.

Thank you so much for your time and best wishes,
Amelia

Oh dear, I sincerely feel for you. I was on paxil for two years, and it was hell trying to get off that drug!! I had every symptom you mentioned, and thos damn body zaps were the worst. Its gonna take awhile, but you can do it!! Just know you deff can get through this, and every symptom your feeling, no matter how horrific, is normal.

I feel like such a mess at the moment!
vie just been trying so hard to address...truly confront all of these issues i have with anxiety disorder...massive panic attacks, health anxiety, agoraphobia etc etc...i just need to be able to cope.
Im 26 yrs old and i find it hard(mostly in the past) impossible to evn walk down the road to get a pint of milk.

I really am trying so hard to earn how to cope with this so i can just live my life!!! its very frustrating as i sure you understand.

I just really hope i will feel better...not feel like this for ever! at the moment i just feel like i cant see the wood throughout the trees.

So sorry to ramble..its just so nice to talk to someone who understands.

its also weird as soon after i began taking the pail originally, i started suffering from mild electric shock sensations...aspecially when a little tired..it must be a slight side effect too i suppose?

thank you again and i hope you are well.

If you've been on it for 12 years straight you need to do a SLOW taper girl. How many mg of Paxil are you on?

Cutting completely off Paxil in 2 weeks over 12 years of use is TOO FAST in my opinion!

Yes! Those are withdrawal symptoms of the Paxil.

I'd call your Dr. and ask about a weaning regiment while you are still taking the Cipralex.

Take care. You'll make it through. Keep your head up.
