Conversations/phrases in my head?

Hi, I'm posting this to see if anyone else suffers from this as well. When I'm not concentrating on something or I'm laying down to go to bed my mind will sometimes race and I'll have random songs stuck in my head or phrases or words. also sometimes I'll have like a conversation in my head that is super random or doesn't make sense and it almost feels like I wasn't controlling what was being said or what was entering my mind. It gives me more anxiety than I already have because I don't know if this is a sign of something other than anxiety? It is just a weird feeling to me to have these racing thoughts that don't seem to connect or seem illogical and random. I've read about schizophrenia and how their racing thoughts are illogical and don't connect so I don't know if this is a sign of that? The inner voice is my own but sometimes when I'm falling asleep I'll hear like my friends voice instead or her laugh. Please help!!!

That was my take on it as well paxiled.  I think that if you work on the anxiety, normal things in life would not stress or bother you.  best of luck!

My only comment would be, this sounds like normal thinking to me, like daydreaming.  If you weren't suffering from anxiety, would this bother you?  It just sounds like many times in my life especially when I was younger, but when you get anxious it's just hard to relax and go with the mind's flow.

The same thing happens to me and I think I really understand what you are saying. It is not in the normal way that a song gets stuck in your head, it is almost like it has entered your brain and taken over your body. I really get this. It makes it impossible to sleep sometimes as the thoughts seem to go on and on for hours. I have really accepted them but perhaps it is something that you need to talk to a therapist about. It cannot be good to have these racing thoughts. Please talk to someone and see if you can get to the root of this and learn methods to deal with it.

Wishing you happiness and peace :-)

Hi there.  I think this is very common.  In fact, I think everyone has songs get stuck in their head and a conversation with self that can take place now and again.  We are often taught how to control our 'inner voice' to be positive for example and say kind things to us.

This is not schizophrenia.  Schizophrenia has a long list of symptomology that is complex.

When I drift off to sleep, I can hear things too.  For about three years when my kids were little, I'd hear a baby crying every time I started to drift off to sleep. Sometimes real, sometimes in my subconscious.  Luckily, that went away.  :>)

Now, if you are deeply concerned or this is impacting your life in a meaningful way, then I urge you to speak to a doctor or psychologist about it.  good luck
