After hearing from lulu I would agree with her suggestion on taking the lorazepam TWO hours in advance rather than 1 hour like I suggested. There have been times when it has taken up to two hours to kick in for me. She gave some very good advice.
I have been taking lorazepam for quite some time and would recommend 0.5 mg approximately two hours before take-off. My experience has shown that it takes a couple of hours for this drug to kick in. Since lorazepam/Ativan is slower-acting than some of the other anti-anxiety drugs (such as Xanax), many docs will opt for it as they believe it has a lesser chance of becoming habit-forming. If you have never been prescribed this before, I would recommend you begin taking it at least a day or two in advance, so you will have some idea of how it affects you. I would also suggest at first that you cut the 0.5-mg pill in half and try just taking half a dose at a time, as it may be all you need (and if that is the case, it helps your supply last that much longer)! I would definitely suggest you do that if you will be expected to drive after your flight and/or you are not accustomed to using this drug. As I mentioned, definitely try it out in advance so you'll know what to expect, and go from there. And, since I don't know what other drugs you may also be taking, I would double check things either with a pharmacist or a physician who is used to prescribing such drugs. Hope this helps. Safe travels!

Talk to your doctor. Are you currently taking Lorazepam? Where would you get it?
I personally take 1 mg of lorazepam 1 hour before a flight (and for a 2-hour flight you should only take it that one time), in day-to-day life I take .5 mg as needed which is about once every 10-15 days. Depending on your history your dosage may be different. You are leaving out a lot of information and in the end you should only follow the prescribing doctor's advice.
