Foods high in taurine and tryptophan and B6 theoretically would help some with anxiety, but probably not enough to get rid of it. Not enough of them could cause anxiety, however. Nobody really understands why we have chronic anxiety or depression, so it's hard to point to a food and say there's the answer. But if you're including herbal remedies as food, there are a great many that can help. And there are many cultural theories -- the Chinese, for example, associate anxiety and fear with kidney weakness, so anything that strengthens the kidney would be part of a program for dealing with it. You can go on a long time with this, if you should choose there is a lot written about nutrition and mental illness.
