You stop by going to your doctor and working out a taper plan that is very slow. You absolutely must NOT just stop taking this med!
A good taper plan will gradually step you down without too much discomfort, but I must be honest and let you know that it's not going to be an easy road. You will have to endure some pretty nasty times. You can do it if you're really motivated.
I wish you a great deal of luck

I'm a little confused. Do you take 2mg a day? Or more than that? I've got a bottle of .5mg ativan. I take two pills before bed, so that's 1mg. And if I have too, depending on the day, I might take 2 pills during the day which is 1mg. So some days I take a total of 2mg worth and some days just 1mg worth. This is only temporary for me though until my paxil kicks in. But I've never had a problem coming off them in the past. But then again I have never taken them for 8 months straight. Maybe just a month or 2 at the max.
I agree with greenlydia on this one though. Talk to your dr about a weening regiment. I watched my brother cold turkey oxycotton... If he can do that... You can def go off the Ativan. But don't cold turkey it. Good luck to you. You'll me fine.
And my other question... Were you prescribed Ativan for nausea? Or are you saying that you've tried not taking it and it's making you sick? Just wanted to know exactly why you were prescribed it.
