Can anxiety cause urinating problems?

Im a 31 year old male currently with severe anxiety. My anxiety is usually contained but recently exploded. Its been going on strong for about 2 weeks and am now having problems urinating. I feel as if my bladder is full but nothing comes out and am having small bowel movements. I know anxiety and stress can reak havock on the body, and was wondering if anxiety can cause urinating problems.

It wouldn't hurt for you to get checked out by your GP because it could be an infection.  This will then hopefully take the anxiety back down to a level where you have been able to manage it in the past.

At first it was around 1/2 hour to an hour I was feeling the urge to go, but now it seems to be further apart depending on amount of fluid intake but it takes me a while to start peeing when I try. Once it comes out its a steady flow. And with the bowel movements I may get a few pieces a day out but they are smtall and not hard. I have had real bad anxiety within the last couple of weeks. I didn't know if the prostate could be inflamed or if its just uti or bladder related. I also have a tight feeling in my rectum sometimes feeling like spasms.

Hello and welcome!

Anxiety most commonly causes a frequency and urgency when it comes to urination symptoms.  While it could be related, it could also be physical in nature...possibly an infection, or consitpation, any number of things.

You need to be seen by your doctor to rule out any kind of medical reason for your symptoms!

How frequently are you trying to urinate?  Do you walk out of the bathroom and immediately feel as if you have to go again?  And by small bowel movements, are you talking about the frequency in that you are going everyday as opposed to what your normal schedule was?

Sorry for all the questions, just trying to get a little more information.  :o)
