Have I gone mad??? :'( Please Help...

I'm at end of my tether :(
I'm a 22yr old female & I have a long history of Anxiety & Panic Disorders/Depression, going back 6 or 7 years when I left school. But I've never took any medication for it or had any counselling. I've just sorta, dealt with it myself. Anyways, for the past few weeks I'd noticed every now & again that my heart rate was going abit faster than normal & I've had an awful feeling of doom. So I went to the doctor's to get it checked out & he said that my heart rate was 120bpms [I did tell him that I'd walked to the surgery quite fast but he didn't care about that] so he sent me to the hospital to get an ecg, needless to say that I was worried sick & by the time I got to the hospital I was a wreck & the ecg still showed a heart rate of 120bpms. I was terrified! They ended up taking blood & urine samples. All the blood tests came back normal but the urine showed up traces of a UTI infection which they just told me to up my water intake for.
The suspected the anxiety problems being the cause of the fast heart rate on the first ecg, so they did another one when they'd got me to calm down abit, the 2nd one said that my heart rate had gone down to 88bpms, even though I was still abit nervous. & Apparently my heart rythm was normal on both ecgs.
Anyway, they eventually let me home & strongly advised me to see the doctor about being referred to a therapist, but now the trauma of being in the hospital & being so scared has sent my anxiety levels through the roof. I keep feeling like something terrible is going to happen & like I'm going to die, I'm even dreading christmas, incase I take ill or worse & ruin it for everyone! :'( I'm doubting the doctors & keep thinking that there's something wrong with my heart & I'm absolutely beside myself.
Have I lost my mind? Please help! :'(

No you are not going crazy, not at all. But you would benefit from some counseling or theory, maybe some medication as well. The counseling helps me as much as the meds do most of the time.

No you haven't lost your mind. It does sound like you are experiancing anxiety. Anxiety tends to make your heart race a lot. The best thing for you to do is take your doctors advice. Hospitals tend to make it worse. When I went to the hospital I had a panick attack myself so I know how it feels' Even though when your heart races you are not likely to die it just makes you feel like it is a heart problem. And then your heart races faster when you think that. I know it does with me but I'm still here. And since they say there is nothing wrong with your heart I wouldn't worry about it cuz worrying only gives people more anxiety.
