Am an agoraphobic too. Over 20 years of it. Love going out too. Strange condition. We are in we want to go out. We are out we want to go back in. Yoyo Condition. Auch I am sure she will be fixed up and working like a new motor before long. Once she gets to understand her anxiety and maybe a little something to help her along the way. That will also lift her mood. You can become bogged down big time if you can't do the things you want to do. Once she is fully aware there is an answer and she will find it and things will get better for her. That's all that counts.

I understand what you are saying and i did not mean to diagnose her with Agoraphobia as i'm not a Doc. that was clearly a wrong choice of words on my part but i did  emphasized more then once to get a professional diagnoses. I'm not trying to scare anybody as i have been diagnosed with Agoraphobia myself 3 years ago and I know what it feels like and i had the exact same symptoms. Plus Agoraphobia does not mean she does not have the desire to go out or loves to go out...it means her fear being in public places starts scaring her and preventing her from doing so.
But it is nothing that can not be fixed and she has her whole life ahead of partying and having fun after she has probably been diagnosed and treated....thank you for pointing it out, again I was not trying to predict the Doc. diagnoses.

I disagree that we can assume she will classed as having Agoraphobia. Not from reading the few words that she wrote. She loves to go out. Still has the desire to go out. I imagine it is just anxiety. The last thing we need to do is scare her. Agoraphobia is a big condition. Fair to say her anxiety is making her depressed. But fix the anxiety and the other fix itself. She is only 15. Still a lot of living to do.

I'm sorry to hear that you are feeling so poorly. I know just to well and most of the people on here in this forum know  how you feel, trust me!
I'm glad you are going to see a doc.it is important to get control over this. You most likely will be diagnostic with Agoraphobia and put on some SSRI's that help you in a time frame of about 6 weeks to feel better. you will take this med every day as the doc prescribes. My doc. also put me on some faster relief when an attack strikes, which in my case was/is Xanax but there are Klonopin and Valium and others.
you most likely will be taking these as needed. but that is for your Doc. to determine
Also i want to add that don't be afraid of trying out diff. meds in case one does not show results within 6 weeks...it might just not be the right one for you. I went to 5 diff. meds until i ended up with Prozac, which helped me tremendously but made me gain a huge amount of weight ( does not happen to everybody so don't let that discourage you) now i have switched to Wellbutrin...I have no idea how that will help as i just have started...but getting back to you.
I would also get a complete physical check up and the reason why is, because then when an attack strikes you don't have to worry about anything going wrong with you because you are healthy and have nothing to fear other then the "fear" itself.
I have developed a theory which i came up with, which is my "Pizzatheory".
One big Pizza...you can not eat with one bite, break it down in smaller slices.
The same goes for your anxiety....when an attack strikes...sit down and breath just breath at first....clear your mind and tell yourself it is an attack, nothing else is wrong with me (physical check up proved it) and i will get through this. It will not hurt me, i can not die from an anxiety/panic attack....concentrate on your breathing again....focus on body parts...tense them up and then relax them again maybe even a pray can help to calm you down. You have to understand that the Anxiety makes the body give out all kinds of false sympthoms  and signals, which you can control by staying calm and deep breathing....
I know it takes practice but you will get through this until you are on some meds that will help you. I hope this helped you a little bit, as I know it is a horrible feeling.
Good luck and stay in touch...would love to hear how your are doing!!!!

Hi, your doctor will know what is best for you, and the medications help immensely.  I'm happy to hear you are in counseling, but sometimes that isn't enough (it wasn't for me).  Medication gave me my life back.  You are young so it's good that you are addressing all this now so you can move on.  Everyone here does understand as we've been there or still are, so know you're certainly not alone, and we hear from a lot of teens.  You will get through this, and live a happier life.  Take care....

Medication can be all about trial and error. Finding the right ones that work for you. It can take a few attempts. Just to find the right ones. That's how it all goes down. You may find the right ones first time round. But if I was a betting man I would guess your doctor would try you out on a Benzo. Probably start you off on a fast acting Benzo. As most doctors do. Xanax or something similar. But if it was me I would asking for something more long term. Xanax and the likes kick in quickly. But wear off a few hours later. Klonopin is a longer acting Benzo. Can be dosed out twice a day and cover the full day. But you may be put on that along with an SSRI. It depends on how bad you doctor thinks your anxiety is. Or you may just get the SSRI.  ( Anti-depressant ) They can help anxiety as well. The likes of myself is on one of both. With a little extra to take if needed. But only your doctor can decide on what medication to start you out on. We are not doctors. But I hope things work out for the best for you.
