Hi,
I started 10mg of paxil about 3 weeks ago and I had several of the common side effects for about a week and a half, but I went back to my doc and I wanted 20mg cause 10 wasn't enough. Now I been on the 20 for almost 2weeks it has helped me alot with the problems.I haven't had to take the tranqulizers in about 2 weeks almost. My palpitations are not crazy anymore. But I still feel strange sometimes and I feel I get really excited for a little then I go back to blah, does anyone have this problem? I know the paxil is helping cause I do feel alot better,but I feel like I am here but not, I think I am thinking about it to much. I am finally eating better and I don't get as nervous anymore. But sometimes I feel just weird can't describe it, I do have a head cold for a few days now and its making me dizzy cause my ears are clogged. Well does anyone still have some anxiety with there meds and is it normal.Doc said to give it time for the 20mg to get in my system.

I take 50 mg.  yes...give it time to get into your system....SSRI's are not a cure-all.  It helps reduce your anxiety symptoms so you can better deal with the things that life throws your way.  Consider it a buffer between you and your intense feelings....it puts things in perspective...It is great that you had such a wonderful reaction to the meds!  Some people do not get the relief that you are talking about...that is great!  

You will still get normal anxiety in your life and may experience some anxiety attacks (although much less and with much less intensity).  You still need to work on the issues and thought patterns that caused you to get to this point in the first place!
