Hi there. Paxiled is right. I agree. People in my support group all use various breathing control methods to control anxiety attacks & panic. I do too.
Plus mental guided imagery. Free groups are available thru NAMI.
well I have shortness of breath all threw the day off and on and don't know what causes it im not on meds so it makes it harder fro me to cope with things and this breathingand I think I have a panic disorder cause no matter if im calm or not my anxiety symptoms kick in no matter what
Because most people when they're anxious breath shallowly, from the top of their chest, instead of deeply from their abdomen as is done when we're relaxed. This also makes us take each breath more quickly as it doesn't take as long to take air in and breathe it out. Deep breathing is one of the relaxation techniques taught to help relax people, and has been taught that way for centuries -- think of yogic breathing, for example.
