Inquiry about Xanax XR

Hi, I'm currently on vacation and I was running out on my Alprazolam (Brand: Restyl SR) that I normally take and I met with a doctor here today and got a prescription for it. It's the Alprazolam XR (Greenstone brand). I've usually been taking 0.5 mg 3 times a day which is a 1.5 mg every day, and upon getting this I'm prescribed to take 0.5 mg 2 times a day, which brings it to a 1 mg.

My concern is whether if it will have any effect on me considering it's a slight dosage reduction? I hear the half life for it is anywhere between 10-15 hrs for the XR so I'm thinking it should probably be fine and it may just be more potent than the one I've been taking all this while considering it's a Cipla brand from India and could work even more effectively.

So that's the slight concern I have - is it alright to take it twice a day now instead of three? I'm not sure if I should just up it myself and make it a 1.5 mg because like I said this could have a stronger effect on me than the one I've been on and I don't know if I'd like to feel that relaxed, haha.

Any advice/feedback asap will strongly be appreciated. Thank you.

I started taking it today and to be honest, it doesn't feel like it's hitting the spot. May be considering it's the first day, but I feel uneasy. It's probably how my body's metabolizing it. I think I might just take one more before I sleep and make it a 1.5 mg like my usual dosage.. that way I won't shake my system out of balance slightly. I guess another 0.5 mg won't do any harm.

I agree with homebrews, try it and see how you are, if you notice any issues than up it. Hope that you will be fine with it and can enjoy your vacation

I'd start with the 1mg total and see how it goes.  For me and regular xanax...i can't tell much difference between .5mg and 1mg per day.  If you feel yourself getting anxious, I can't see any harm in taking another half a pill, but I'd talk to your doctor first just to be safe.
