Irrational Fears

A few weeks ago we had bats in our house. My husband was able to get them out and insisted that they never touched or bit him. Today he tells me that he has been feeling more tired than normal and of course my mind thinks he has rabies and I start panicing especially because once symptoms are experienced, it's too late to get help.
My rational side says he is just burnt out cuz he works too much. My irrational side is freaking out.

How do u tell the irrational side to be quiet??? It's making me crazy and I've been crying on and off all day.

These irrational thoughts will drive you batty!

Sorry...I just couldn't resist!  :0)

Seriously, if you continue having a hard time moving past this...it wouldn't hurt to get into seom talk therapy,  You're demonstrating very typical patterns of anxiety thinking...the "what ifs" that come with anxiety.

You may very well be able to shake this, but if not, there's no shame in getting some help to move past it.  Good luck!

I scheduled an appt to talk it out with someone because I sounded batty to myself just by talking about it and I figure this should help with any other possible issues that are causing me stress.
I really appreciate how understanding and kind everyone is in this forum. It really helps knowing that there are people out there who understand and listen.  :)
Thanks!

Combat those irrational thoughts with positive ones.  Remember what mammo has said and when the irrational thinking starts, go into postive mode and remind yourself that your husband does not have symptoms related to rabies.

It takes a minimum of two months for symptoms of rabies to appear and there are several symptoms and none are fatigue.  Bats fly by sonar and look at humans as something like a wall and do not want to fly into us.  If your husband were bitten he would know and his very first symptoms would be itching, burning, tingling and numbness at the site of the bite.  You can rest that he is just fine.  I hope this helps, I know it's tough to fight our irrational side of thinking, but do your best so you can relax.  Take care.
