Is it normal to still have anxiety attacks while on meds?

I'm on a lowish dose of Prozac for anxiety and depression. It's been doing wonders for me. I feel great 90% of the time, sleep pretty well, and am speaking up for myself more and feeling more comfortable in strange social situations.

However, I have noticed that I'm not completely "cured". I don't know if it's normal to have panic attacks while on Prozac maybe once/month or so, but I seem to. Right now, I just came down from one so bad that I was curled up in bed for an hour crying. It's awful. I have a downward spiral of thoughts, feel stupid and alone, and generally just so, so pathetic for being troubled.

Is this normal? Do I need to up my dosage? I'm a 30yo female, been on Prozac since May. Taking 40mg currently.

I've started cetalopram for only 3 days, no feeling yet any better.  my first attack was 2 wks ago and Im mad at myself for not taking them!
had a new attack Friday and then last night due to just minor worries.  maybe not so minor.  my mom was in the hospital but she's fine now.

I had chest pain with attack #2, so I still don't trust there's not an underlying heart issue.  That's what makes me scared.

Last nights attack lasted a while with repeated adrenaline surges at random intervals 4-6 hours.

What can I do?  Seeing doctor and cardiologist next week.

Yes, this can happen with some of us. If you feel great 90% of the time on Prozac that's great. It might be time to increase your dose a little if you really feel you need and want to.
I've been on several meds over the years and have had the occasional panic attack on them. My Dr always gave me a rescue anxiety med for those times. It could be what you need.
You and your Dr can decide if you need a med increase or a rescue anxiety med for those occasional panic attacks.
