Is there anything that helps anxiety?

I have been suffering from what I think is anxiety for about 6 months now and have not been to a doctor about it yet. I have a constant fear of pretty much everything all of a sudden and I'm afraid to go out in public because I'm afraid of having an anxiety attack. When I have these attacks I get this sudden dizzy, light headed feeling as if I'm falling and my heart races and I get jittery and shaky and I just want to get out of wherever I am as fast as I can. At night time it is hard for me to fall asleep because everytime I'm almost asleep I get this sudden feeling as if I'm falling and I get this jolt in my body and have to sit up and that makes me anxious about it happening again and the pattern continues throughout the night no matter how tired I am. This anxiety is ruining my life and making me very depressed to the point I just want to stay at home all the time and it's my senior year and everyone else is out having fun and enjoying life and I am miserable and constantly afraid of having a panic attack. Is there anything to help anxiety? I'm willing to try anything because it is ruining my life and I feel like I have no control over it. Help!

You need the right medication to suit your anxiety.Xanax is great for panic attacks but it's not long lasting, klonopin is long lasting and has a calming affect,so does valium and lorazapam, they are all benzos and can be highly addictive, this is why you must seek advice from your doctor and see which medication best suits your condition. All the best.

Ok well first thing you need to do is go to your primary doctor to rull out any serious condition. Which it sounds like severe anxiety to me. I to suffer from Panic Disorder I get afraid of going places where ive had previous attacks. Ive only been dealing with my anxiety for about 3 months but have done alot of reserch on it. Once you find out its actually anxiety and im sure it is you will then need to decide what route your gonna wanna take wheather it be medication and theorpy or theorpy by itself depending on what your doctor feels is best for you. My doctor has put me on anti depressents for my panic disorder im currently going through the side effects but it does calm me down which is better than anxiety itself. Xanax works best for quick relief of the attack by the way but only last about 10 hours of relief. Its also a med that gets abused alot so doctors dont purscribe to often. Ill have you in my prayers and just know your not alone. Stop worrying about life and just live it. Train your brain and tell yourself to calm down and learn breathing techniques.

I was in your same situation back in the fall. I started getting panic attacks in the middle of the night. Exactly how you describe them just when you are almost asleep the jolt then hits the panic attack. I got worse to the point I couldn't eat or sleep and had constant anxiety.i finally went to the doctor in January and was put on celexa and klonopin....it has been a life saver. I am back to my old self and no more anxiety or panic attacks. I highly recommend talking to your doctor because there is medication that can help. The celexa took about 6 weeks to fully kick in which is why I was put on the klonopin too...it really helps knock out the anxiety.
