I'm a teen. I was diagnosed with anxiety (and depression) a few weeks ago, but I've had it for 2 years to a few months... it just really hasn't been a problem until a few months ago. What I'm wondering is if I might have a heart condition also... or maybe it isn't which is why I'm asking. I'm on celexa right now... which has helped with some of the symptoms I used to have or still have but are minimized: are lightheadedness, vertigo, racing heartbeat during anxiety attacks, seeming like there is a lack of reality, shaking uncontrollably, seeing flashing lights when I open my eyes in the dark, and anxiety, obviously... But I'm still having heart palpitations. I've had palpitations for 2 years now, long before my first anxiety attack. During the first attack that started to give off symptoms that would last for months until i was finally treated. During the first attack I was exercising hard, and didn't feel like pushing at all, but I had to because I was in gym class to reach a certain point. So then my heart rate shot up to about 180 in less than a minute (i was on a workout machine... ellipticals to be precise... which is how i knew my heartrate), I thought that it was a symptom of anxiety (racing heartbeat) and didn't think much of it later on when i was treated. Now though, an hour before i was to take the celexa, i went to workout on the same machine (keep in mind im talking about a few days ago now) and the same thing happened. i wasn't thinking about anything in paticular or anything. After i got off i had an anxiety attack. My psychiatrist said it could have been a combination of exertion and anxiety, but i'm a bit skeptical seeing as though the workout machine said my heartrate went up to 180 from around 110, then dropped to 90 in less than a minute. Maybe it's a PVT or w/e it's called but still o_o Today I also got lightheaded when exercising hard even though i was stopping and going. I also had an EKG done a few months ago... and all it showed was a small leakage of the mitrovalve, but i didn't do the test on the treadmill. I know it's a lot to take in at once but any suggestions/advice... ect would be appreciated.
