Most doctors are very helpful and try to rule out any physical problems. If it is anxiety, ruling out physical problems helps tremendously. It helps with your line of treatment and it helps alleviate your worries. Change doctors and ask him to start from scratch.
What you can do is confront the doc with your concerns -or consult with another doc. But what you can also do is look at your own history in an attempt to find how much data there is to support the notion that what's going on is NOT anxiety/panic. Agreed, if the doc got it wrong, you've got problems. That said, the continuation of symptoms -while not an open and shut case for anxiety- are not incnsistent with it, either.
It may help you to ask yourself what it would take for YOU to be convinced that anxiety -not an independent problem- is what's at work here. What would that be? I'm hoping you'll receive responses from folks who have been exactly where you are -and had to wrestle with the themselves and "the system" to settle on what was going on.
I admire your courage for posting your feelings about this.
