I am on lexapro 10 mg,have been on it for 3 years now, maybe I need to increase the dose or change to a different A/D... I did'nt take my klonopin yesterday but I took a xanax instead .25mg and I was fine, this morning I took .25mg klonopin instead of .5mg.For some reasons I feel that xanax puts me in a better mood...but I know it is highly addictive....by the way why do you want to quit klonopin?
I must admit that I've been eating sweets alot lately....and drinking alot of coffee too....but I never heard that sugar intake can cause depression tho.....
Hi. I am on Klonopin, .5 3 times a day as well as 60 mg of celexa. I agree with cj. Don't try to taper on your own. I did, with the Klonopin and within a week, I was anxious but that was not the worst. I also started experiencing daily nausea. I saw my shrink ( I like him, he is great) and he advised that it was not time for me to come off of the drug and that I was tapering wrong. I went from 3 a day to 2 and a half a day to 2. Within 2 weeks. I thought that was a good time frame. He reinforced to me that I have an anxiety disorder, GAD, as well as clinical depression and that right now is not the time to adjust anything. By the way, we had switched me back to Zoloft, last year, and it didn't work. So 2 months ago, I was starting back into a depressive episode.
I have been on klonopin for over 4 years. It is a great med for long term. Please as others advised above..ask your doctor about adjusting the dose. It is just plain basic common practice and sensible. I have to say that i have gotten depressed slightly on klonopin...but i am more apt to say that my diet has also made me depressed. To many cookies! LOL ;o/
Watch your sugar intake :O)
yes always ask dr first before you change your meds i do.
Ok...that is the right course of action:)....staying in consultation with your doc is the best way and it will only keep you more informed.
Ok, I'll ask my Dr first..... :)
Ok...I will stress to all again. DO NOT SELF ADJUST MEDICATIONS ON YOUR OWN. This is NEVER a good thing!
Do you think .5mg is a high dose? maybe I need less than that?
Thank you for your replies....I think it is a good idea to try to take .25mg in the morning and the other .25 at night ....might work !!!
Thanx!!!
yes, i have a few friends that said the klonopin caused them to be depressed, so try cutting it back to .25 am and same at pm you wont get it all in one does. klonopin is a great med and its long term but i have and know a few that got depression when on it now weather it caused it or not i dont know.
In my opinion, klonopin does not 'cause' depression, but it does calm you down, which it is designed to do. It is a longer acting benzo that has probably been prescribed for your anxiety. Have you discussed this with your doctor?
Also, remember when we battle anxiety and depression, we do have our ups and downs; and you may be in a down totally unrelated to Klonopin. The important thing to do is to stay in contact with your doctor in my opinion. Please keep us posted!
