Klonopin question....dosing

Also, I am supposed to be taking this Clonazepam 2x's a day.....but I am only taking it .25 in the morning.

I don't feel I need it at night, but would it help me more if I did take it twice a day? I just feel like if I take it more than I am, it will be harder to get off of down the road.

thanks!

On my bottle, it says they are .50mg pills and I am to take 1 in the am and 1 in the evening. I am terrified of getting "hooked" on a drug, or having a bad reaction, so the DR said I could "play with the dose" and maybe take .50 in the am (when my anxiety is the worst!) and .25 in the evening, or whatever. So I have been breaking the pills in half.

So I started taking .25 in the am and that's been it so far. I know some people take Klonopin as needed and not twice a day.....

but I also understand it works best my taking it am and pm to reach a "steady state".

I just have such a med phobia after my paxil experience, I am leery to just jump into anything with both feet. I have to put a pinky toe in and make sure I can handle it.

I think tonight I will try taking it and go for the twice a day thing for a while....see how that goes and then continue dropping down in my paxil dose. My main goals are to be free from Paxil and feel better! If klonopin can help that, then so be it!

thanks for all your input !

Klonopin really needs to be taken at least twice a day to reach steady state.  Did the doctor originally prescribe it that way??

You can't just up them. That would need a Dr to say so. Lots of people take them twice a day. Morning and night. But if you don't feel you need it at night then why bother with it at night? Maybe you just need a stronger dosage in the morning? I take 1.5mg twice a day. Have been up as high as 2.5mg. So .25 is a low dosage. Just wondering where you would get the extra tablets needed?

I have a hard time blindly doing what I am told by a Dr without researching on my own and speaking to others who have been there, done that.

I feel that is why I am in the mess I am in now...I let a Dr decide what I needed to do, who really didn't have a clue.

Take as the doctor told you to take them.
