This sounds like a panic attack, but you've got to be EXTRA careful when you're pregnant, so if I were you id see my dr as soon as he could get me in and explain what you're feeling to rule out anything physical.

Are you in therapy? Meds only treat the symptoms, not the cause. I was extremely panicky and anxious during pregnancy (far more than usual), especially since I had to stop my anxiety meds, therapy was a HUGE help and continues to be. Like the above poster said, pregnancy is a stressful time, and for us, stress= high anxiety. The breathing techniques should help with the attacks.

I'd watch my diet as well (I know that's hard during pregnancy!), make sure you're taking your prenatals, no caffeine, not too much sugar, and getting your fiber. As long as your dr ok's it I'd go for walks too, this helped me a lot during pregnancy anxiety.

It sounds like you are having a panic attack.  Try to do some controlled breathing.  Have you learned that CBT trick?  Take a deep breathe in through your nose, hold it for 5 seconds and count that out in your head, then let it all out through your mouth.  It also helps if you have your hands on your stomach so that you can feel the rise and fall of your abdomen.  It sounds as if you are hyperventilating and this is possible to do without realizing it.  The breathing will help with that and hopefully take away the dizzyness that may accompany the hyperventilating.

Having a baby is a really anxious time so you are definitely not alone.  Have you called whoever it is you are seeing for CBT?  Perhaps they can move up your next appointment so that you can deal with this current issue.
