NO HELP

I have been on klohipin 2 mg for about 2-3 yrs it is not working that well anymore.  I have asked multi times to please switch me to something else, but he tells me you are maxed out and all the anxiety meds are the same.  Is this true?

Thanks for your answers you both are right.  He is am idiot.  The last time i was there I said I need to come more then once every 2 months because the last month was horrible I brought information for him to look at to what I found on the internet.  He wouldn't even look at the information I brought.  He also told me I no longer have a PA so I can only see you every 6 weeks.  He wrote me scripts and sent me on my way.  The same things he has been prescribbing the last 2 yrs, but, He did take me off of one of my long time meds.  There are so little psych drs around that take my insurance.

Your doctor is an idiot, and he thinks you are one, too. The max dose for klonopin is 4 mg daily.  I have been through the entire gamut of try-this and try-that.  The med mix I am currently on is finally perfect for me (but may not work for you - never take drugs that are not prescribed to you by a doctor).  My current med mix is klonopin 4x daily, zoloft 100 mg daily, vistiril 50 mg 2x daily, plus a sleep aid and ultram for fatigue/soreness.  And see a different doctor, please. - Blu

I would recommend finding a new doctor, as this one isn't listening to you.  You have built up a tolerance to the Klonopin, so some kind of change is needed...and there are lots of options.  You need a doctor who is willing to listen to your concerns and be willing to explore your options.  After 2 years, this is to be expected, and it's a shame your doctor has dismissed you without offering some kind of alternative plan.
