Thank you so much!!!!!! I will let you know!
If the radilogist read both the mammo and the ultrasound while you were still there, he/she may have spoken to you then, but I think the protocol in most places calls for the radiologist to send his finding to your doctor first. If you have a history of fibroid cysts, apparently only in your right breast, and they now saw "something" in your left breast, you can be sure they are going to do whatever they have to to rule out anything but a new cyst.
If you have been going to the same place for years, they have all your old mammograms to compare this new one with. That is a VERY good thing.
You ask why you are so freaked. Because we are ALL freaked out about breast cancer and for women with fibroid cysts, I can only imagine your fear is even greater. Not because the cysts turn into cancer, but because ANY lump or abnormality that they want a second look at is going to flip the panic switch.
Many of us have been called in to repeat a mammo or a pap and it IS nervewracking, but as you well know, there is nothing to do but wait and try our hardest not to freak out thinking the worst.
I'm sure your results will be fine, but most of us know what you're going through. So try to keep your chin up and know we're all rooting for you.
Please let us know when you get the good news!
Peace
