A pdoc is the one who gave it to me... I had a bad reaction to Zoloft so he didn't want to try anything like that and then he tried Effexor and I only took a few of those and it made me worse... no im on pristiq and I don't really know why. He insisted that I take this one tho. I even said do you think we could try Prozac on a very low dose and he said no he wanted me to do this one... I don't know why????
It might help, but it isn't generally used if anxiety is the primary problem because this class of drug is stimulating as it targets norepinephrine as well as serotonin. If it's a general doc, most likely he gave this to you because he doesn't know his meds very well and because this is still on patent the drug company is working on him to prescribe it. Generally with anxiety as the primary problem ssris or tricyclics, not snris, would be used first. I recommend seeing a psychiatrist who knows meds rather than a general doc who doesn't know them as well, but, you know, some psychiatrists are not so hot either -- just like every other profession some are better than others. I would ask the doc why this drug if you don't suffer from depression.
