Medication suggestions for this kind of anxiety...and these kind of daily priorities

Let me say that my priorities in daily life are lifting weights and running at the gym.  I love working out and do not want anything that would interfere with either my working out...or the muscular and cardiovascular gains that I get from working out.

I had an experience one day where my heart just started to race suddenly at 120 beats per minute for an hour or so about 12 hours after cocaine use. So I went to the cardiologist to have everything checked out and he said I was fine, my heart had no issues on the echocardiogram or treadmill stress test.

But now I catch myself paying close attention to my heart and notice when I can feel my heart beating and when I cant. It gets very annoying to me and used to send me into panic attacks.

However, my heart has not had any racing moments in over a month now and needless to say, I havent even had a drink of alcohol or even a cigarette.

So first of all, how normal is it to be able to feel your heart beating in your chest...even if it is beating normally.

Finally, what kind of medications would fit my needs both physically and mentally?

cocaine use HAS stopped.  I havent used cocaine...touched a drop of alcohol...or even smoked a cigarette in close to two months now and plan on keeping it that way.

Is it just me or is it not odd that nobody has suggested to the OP to STOP USING COCAINE???  And to add another drug to the mix?

Thanks for your time RCA.  Are you a doctor?  You appear to be well informed.

Can anybody else vouche for  Tranxene for my situation or have any other insights to add?

over the past year I have used cocaine, on average, twice a month.

There were a couple of months where the drug wasnt used at all.

Then maybe a month where it was used once a week for the entire month.

How often do you use cocaine? I mean, you describe a one time event a time after using cocaine but you don't mention if this problem has occurred any other time. If it hasn't, I'd wager it had something to do with the cocaine use even though it was 12 hours prior to your event actually happening.

I forgot to mention my anxiety in detail...

Throughout the day, I feel like there is this mild..lingering anxiety lingering in the background.  It does not interfere with my daily routine...I still get things done and do what I need to do.

But in the back of my mind I feel it...I am just a little bit uneasy on the inside.  I feel like there is always a chance that it could increase in intensity and into a panic attack...but it never does.

I get anxious. That is the best way to describe it.  Anxious.
