Mouth/Throat anxiety

Hey all, was just cruising the net and found this site and it looks great. So I have had anxiety all my life, even when I was a child. I've taken ativan in the past and while it helped, I didn't like taking it because I was so spacey when I was on it. I have recently started having panic attacks and am weirded out by the symptoms. My tongue hurts when I eat, especially the tip, my throat tightens constantly, I feel sick to my stomach, I can't eat it's so bad. I'm anemic and on iron supplements so my stomach has been a wreck, but I'm having horrible diarrhea after I eat, my mouth feels all weird and I'm stressing non stop that it's not just anxiety. How can anxiety do this to me? In the past I just had few symptoms, now it feels as though I have them all.

I scream sometimes when it's really bad. I don't get it at all. Things I eat everyday are bothering me.

Any advice or questions would be so appreciated.

I do see a therapist and doctor regularly and am on no meds right now.

Welcome Peachycat.  I know how horrible anxiety is. It is hard to deal with, especially on a daily basis.  My stomach and head were mostly effected with my anxiety and I am on medication which helps me a lot.  I understand that medication isn't the way that many people want to go but it does help with the symptoms.  I hope you feel well soon.

Hello Peachycat!  I too get the mouth sensitivity and throat tightness.  For so long I was CONVINCED that my doctors were missing something as I have health anxiety and I read too much into my anxiety symptoms.  Once I did accept it as anxiety I began to research symptoms of anxiety and found that IBS and burning sensations are common symptoms.  What I feel in my mouth is a cross between and electric shock feeling, and a sun burn.  I've since noticed that I almost always have another area of my body that feels the same (ie my upper arms, inner thighs/calves, etc)  It is extremely annoying to say the least.  I hope this helps you!

Thanks so much. That does help quite a bit. It's always a relief to know I'm not alone.

I have ativan and am still debating wether or not to use it.
