thank you for the feedback. I have been dealing with GAD for over 10 years and I have been doing really well. Now one trigger and BAM back to point one.. Dr stated that I may have a viral infection that may be casuing shortness of breath since I have a nasal drip. Gotta get a chest x-ray and go from there. Also he gave me an inhaler. Follow up visit in a few weeks.
Thanks again all.
Isen't is funny how dealing with anxiety makes u feel like u been hit by a bus. I now have the headache, and achy feeling. The lovely aftermath of hyping myself up!
Anxiety can mess with your mind and body, and one of the most common complaints is the endless feedback loop that comes from being anxious about your health. You're off to a great start by going to your doctor. Please, do lot let your MD rush you out the door- finding out whether or not you've got a physical ailment will be a relief to you- if you learn that you're basically of sound health, your overall anxiety level should be reduced- being diagnosed with anxiety gives you somewhere to start.
For myself, chest pains were freaking me out- when I learned that I had general anxiety, the chest pains stopped, and my doc and I then got to work on treating the anxiety- just knowing what was wrong was a big relief.
Anxiety can definitely play a role in how we perceive our health in my opinion. My initial anxiety came from concerns about my heart. First, I believe I became so sensitized to everything going on, I felt every little palpatation, pain, twinge, etc. and convinced myself that something must be physically wrong....which of course was not the case.
First of all, I believe you are doing the right thing by going to get checked out by your doctor, but when he/she tells you that you are okay, then this issue becomes confronting your anxiety in my opinion.
I work out pretty much on a daily basis and do a lot of cardio, and some days I just feel like crap to put it mildly. I feel out of breath, I have pains, etc, and if that would have happened when I was going through my health anxiety issues I would have gone straight to the ER, when in fact I know some days I just don't feel well. There are so many factors in how I feel when I exercise to include sleep, diet, if I drank the night before, allergies, what medications I am on, etc.
So, go to your doctor and explain what is going on, which you are doing. But after you are done with that process, confronting the anxiety (I prefer counseling) would be the next step in my opinion. Keep us posted!
