medication question

has anyone ever heard of the medicine call Pristiq? my doctor put me on it a couple of weeks ago and it is suppose to help with both depression and anxiety? Not sure it is doing it's job yet though. I take that and xanax for all it is worth.

I am not really sure about that med, but I know SSRIs can lower someone's sex drive.

Thank you. I've been on it for abuut three weeks now so.....does this like totally remove your sex drive, because i have certainly not had one? :)

Pristiq is an anti depressant that is known is a SNRI (serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor).  How long have you been taking it?  Remember these medications like SSRIs can take a little time to 'kick in.'  Sometimes in take up to a month, in my opinion; I am a big proponent of medications like these as long as it is COMBINED with talk therapy.  There is no magic pill that will cure you of this.  As long as you are following your doctor's instructions, I believe that you are doing the right thing...if you have questions, keep in consultation with him/her...keep us posted!
