Pain Below My Stomach Causing Anxiety, Help Please

by CJ40689, Jun 25, 2008 03:22PM
I havn't posted in a while (I've been good since then), but now I'm starting to get a little anxiety again.  I woke up this morning more tired than usual and a few minutes after I got up I felt a sharp pain a few inches below my belly button.  I dont know what organ is there but now it makes me think that I have some kind of digestive problem or something considering some of the issues from my previous posts (light colored and frequent stools & stomach pains in the morning).  I stopped taking the Zoloft/Sertraline a little over a week ago.  I havn't felt this sharp pain before until today so should I worry about anything?  I went to my doctor a week ago and she pretty much says im fine since i dont have any other symptoms, but who knows at this point.

could be gas, if it doesn't last too long i wouldnt worry but if your still feeling the same pain for a couple days, or it gets worse then you might want to think about going back to the doctor.  I had a very severe pain in my left abdomen for a week and it just went away on its own.  I probably should have went to the doctor but i felt fine otherwise.

did you taper off your meds or did you just stop taking them? i've had digestive problems after quiting some of the many antidepressants i've been on through the years. it could be that. also your reproductive organs are in that area. you may want to see your gyno dr. i hope you start feeling better. take care. remar

Hi there.

Unless the pain is VERY severe, accompanied by other worrisome symptoms, such as fever, vomiting, diarrhea (and not just nervous diarrhea, lol)etc etc....I wouldn't honestly worry about it.  You can get aches and pains and weird sensations anywhere in your body for about a ka-zillion different reasons....very very very few of them which are ever anything to worry about.  Especially at your age.

If the pains continue to persist, or worsen, or you develop any other symptoms....by all means....have your doc check you out...but not b/c you have some horrible terminal illness...because it could be something else that needs attention (gallbladder, etc)

I'm sure you're just fine.  Try not to ruminate about it...and definitely NO googling for YOU young man!    Ya hear?

thanks you for your responses.  i kind of have a stomach ache and went number 2 twice today so far.  it's been pale in color still, it's bugging me because i never had this before.  it's been over a month since it's been like this.  my doctor wont do anything because im not showing any other symptoms.  i dont know what to do.  obviously something isnt right since pale/yellow colored stool mean something is going on in the liver or galbladder.

is there honestly anything to worry about when ive had yellow stool for over a month or can diet actually encourage this color?

Yes, it can...as can a number of other benign things.  If it has persisted this long...along with some of the belly pain you've had...I would say it is time to go back to the doc and ask for a work-up.  Could be something like your gallbladder, or even some sort of intolerance to foods.  A couple simple blood tests and non-invasive studies could rule those common things out.

Worth checking out...again...NOT BECAUSE OF ANYTHING SERIOUS!!!

Sorry...I put that in caps cuz I didn't want to scare ya!  :0)

my doctor probably wont do any tests on me.  i was there just last week and she seemed convinced that im fine, but i dont know what to believe.  i just want to know the reason for these stomach pains in the mornings and the light colored stools ive been having for the past month.  yesterday was the first morning in the past week where i had stomach pains, so it's very confusing to me.  im pretty sure i dont have any cancers in my digestive organs or hepatitis.  i have no family history of either, dont poison my liver, and ive had multiple hepatitis shots when i was a little kid like many kids have.  could it really just be the food i eat?  is the "you are what you eat" phrase real in this case? id say on a regular day, i have at least 4 slices of wheat bread for different sandwiches and oatmeal every morning as well.  those were the main foods that a nurse from the 24 hour nurse line told me could create light colored stools and frequent stools (due to high fiber) so is this actually true?  i just want to get to the root of this so it's not on the back of my mind anymore.
