Paxil withdrawals

I have been on Paxil since December but recently have been trying to get off of it.I was taking 20 mg,so I cut it down to 10 mg.Since I have done this,I feel as if I am going nuts.I am dizzy, feel sick, very emotional, and angry, and getting the brain zaps.I hate this feeling.I was on Paxil years ago for 4 years, and when I weaned off of it,I do not recall ever feeling like this.Has anyone experienced this?

I've been on Paxil for 16 years at a low dose. I weaned myself completely off of it about 8 years ago with no sideeffects. However, a couple of month later, I had a full blown panic attack for no reason at all.

I went back on it up to 40 mgs until the anxiety went away. Then backed off to 20 mg and have been on it ever since.

Whenever I tried getting off of this medication, with the exception of what I wrote above, I've always had some sort of withdraw symptoms. Dizzyness easpecially. I just figured that after the last bout of anxiety when I was off of it, it was better to just stay on at a low dose until I needed to increase when anxiety hits.

I took Paxil at one time too. You have to wean slowly. Instead of cutting down to 10 mgs, try 15 mgs. These pills can be scored. Do this every few days. Taking the full dose, then 15 mgs one day and going back to the full dose for a few days. Do this for a least a couple of weeks and then add another day of 15 instead of 20. Go from there. I found this a hard med to stop myself and this is what I finally did. It made the withdrawals so much easier. Yes, you can go back on the same med and have a different reaction and it can be harder to quit. You just never know. Check with your Dr about a tapering plan. I always recommend this. I was just giving you an example of how I did it.
