I sometimes do so also, it's bewildering. I tend to get pains and unexplained symptoms much alike yourself. It's a little perplexing, I feel that it has something to do with the chemicals and endorphins released when you are anxious as they tend to be released when your nervous to help your body cope. Therefore, more chemicals released into the bloodstream has got to cause some form of physical symptom I guess. The side of your neck may be down to your thyroid trying to release the right amount of chemicals to balance your blood properly as it has to disperse the same amount of chemical that your brain releases into your blood to deal with fear to calm you down.
