Hi nursegirl, it's been quite a while . About 6 days ago my psch doc stopped my prozac cold turkey, I know but he did this because I had side effects that put me in er. Anyway having really bad cortisol I'll say severe problems. Is there anything I can do for this, then by afternoon the pain starts expecially the stomach, I really am in dispair right now . Any suggestions ? They did give me klonopin to help, don't want to get hooked on that.
I would have to agree that you should taper off of the medication per your doctor's instructions. It is sometimes hard to determine why we feel the way we do from day to day in my experience. There are so many factors that it could be in my opinion. It could be the reduced dosage or it could be your expectation that you are going to feel better...it is hard to pinpoint sometimes, but you said that you are feeling better and that is a good thing, so build on that.
Throughout your experience with anxiety, have you been going through counseling as well? For me, that was the most crucial step I took in confronting it. Keep us posted!
It is altready 4 days since I decreased from 3 pills a day to 2 pills a day and I start to feel better now. anyone think that it might be relate with the dosage ?
I think its better to listen to your doc,if you go off it quicker it might make you feel sick mentally and psyically.Lily
Thank you,
Prozac is the second medicine I have tried , the first was Citalopram which I useed to take for about 6 months, more or less the 2 medicines caused the same problem - severe procrastination and they didn't reduce anxiety significiantly.
I will try now without meds.
Just wanted to get rid from the side effects of the prozac ealiest.
Thank you,
Jack
You need to follow your doctor's guidance when it comes to tapering off this med. Generally speaking, tapers are more successful with less adverse effects when they are down slowly and properly. Don't rush it.
My other advice to you would be...since you report some obvious POSITIVE effects on the Prozac, it may be worth discussing with your doctor possibly trying another medication. It's something to think about. Many times a person will do great on one med and have no luck with another. A big part of the medication approach is some trial and error to find a med that "fits" with a person in each unique situation.
Good luck...keep us updated!
