Question about inderal

by thepenguin, May 29, 2008 07:03PM
Hi,
I've taken 10-20mg of inderal on an as needed basis since high school - as when I performed on my instrument, I would shake so much that even my chair would be moving.  Fortunately, the inderal worked great for me.  Recently, I gave a presentation in a class, and had all the shakiness and pounding heart I used to have, even though I had taken my 20mg.  I suppose it is possible that the meds were expired, as I had the same bottle for over five years.  Is it possible that I have too much adrenaline for this to med to work, or would a higher dose do the trick?  Anyone know what dose it would take to combat my ridiculous amounts of adrenaline?

Hiya!  Yes, it is most definitely due to the meds being expired for one!!  As meds get old, they tend to lose their effectiveness.  I wouldn't play around with the dose either...especially with an old bottle of meds.

Talk with your doc..and tell him/her how effective the Inderal was for you in the past...and you are finding that maybe you could use them in the event of a presentation.  I'm sure he/she won't have a problem prescribing them for you again.  And, properly dispose of the old ones!!!  Most hospitals have programs to accept expired meds for proper disposal.

Good luck!
