I have experienced the uncontrollable shaking too. One of the first panic attacks I had I was lying on the floor shaking like I was having a seizure or something. Thank God I have only had 2 of those. Good to hear you haven't had an attack in 6 months. I agree with Greenlydia. Don't let it get you down. Try to chalk it up to the pulled muscles and let it go. I think that's where alot of us anxiety sufferers get stuck in the viscous cycle. We fear another attack and often bring them on ourselves. I hope you feel better soon.
Glad to hear you are calming down and seem to have a good "hold" on what happened. Painting always gives me a headache from the fumes no matter how many doors and windows I have open and all the bending and stretching..........totally explains the muscle problems and those can lead to the headache if fumes don't bother you.
While it's OK that you have some "old" Xanax laying around, it's always best to talk to your doctor about taking anything. He'd probably write you a new script for the exactly the same thing since they ARE very fast acting and don't stay in your system long. They are excellent as a rescue med.
Well, like I said, try not to talk yourself into thinking you're back having panic attacks all the time again. Think of this ONE as nothing more than a oddity and let it go!
Now put some BenGay on those sore muscles, take an aspirin and get back to that paint job. That room ain't gonna paint itself!
Peace

Thanks! I know all that, guess i just needed to hear it from someone else you know... I have Xanax for "emergencies"! haha, but never actually took one, i got them for going on a plane 6 months ago and guess what, i never came home!!! i like the place so much we moved here!! so never had the need for them again... but maybe if i get one of these bad ones again ill consider a half one maybe.. Just really took me by surprise thats all, from the time my chest and back hurt to the time i was in full panic mode was about 10 minutes or less, never happened so fast before, from all my year or more of hell i went through last year! but feeling a bit better right now, drinking some water and hoping my headache and back pain go before i try to sleep... :( ill try to hope! Thanks
It's not just you! Many, many of us get those exact feelings. Just gotta keep telling yourself it's the anxiety, which it is!
You no doubt pulled a muscle when you were painting and that's what started this whole thing again. You let your mind take control and off you went.
Bear in mind, too, that meds are not a 100% gaurantee that you will NEVER have a breakthrough panic attack. That you made it 6 months without one is great. So it's no biggie that you had this random attack "out of the blue." That is why many of us have what we call "rescue meds" for just such times. When you felt yourself working yourself into panic mode, that would have been the time to take a "rescue med." Perhaps the next time you see your doctor, you can talk to him/her about this.
Do whatever you did in the past to get through the worst of this and then try to just let the experience go. If you begin to worry that your meds aren't working any more and you're right back where you started..........all that negative thinking will do you no good. What happened to you happens to nearly all of us. I once went an entire year without a panic attack, so you can imagine MY dismay when I was blindsided by an attack from hell at a party where I was having the time of my life. Go figure. In the next few months, I had a couple more, then they simply went away again. Too much stress? Chemicals out of whack? I don't know. But I've learned to live with their reandomness and I'm now "armed" if one takes me by surprise again! (Better living through chemistry!) Not really funny, but it is what it is for me.
You'll be fine. You hit a pot hole.
Peace
